Why Window Security Bars Work

Physical prevention vs. electronic detection

The FBI Uniform Crime Report shows approximately 60% of residential break-ins occur through ground-level windows and doors. Cameras and alarms respond to break-ins after they begin — window bars prevent entry from happening at all. A burglar who cannot break through a window in 60 seconds typically abandons the attempt.

SWB telescopic bars are designed for DIY installation: no contractor, no welding, no custom measurements. Model A — frame/wall mount, max 65" tall, emergency exit compatible. Model A/EXIT — quick-release for bedroom egress windows. Model B — masonry wall mount, max 61", NOT compatible with Emergency Kit.

🚨

Bedroom windows require quick-release bars — no exceptions

Per IBC Section 1030, IRC R310, and NFPA 101: any bar on a bedroom window must open from inside without tools or keys. Fixed bars on sleeping areas are a fire code violation. Use Model A/EXIT for all bedrooms. Note: Model B is NOT compatible with the Emergency Kit per the official installation manual.
