About Marcus
Marcus joined SWB in 2022 as the founding security consultant. Before that, he spent 10 years assessing physical security for residential and small-commercial properties across the western US — work that exposed the gap SWB was built to fill: most window security bars on the market either don't fit non-standard windows, don't meet fire code, or require a contractor to install.
He led engineering on all three SWB models — Model A (telescopic), Model B (wall-mount), and Model A/EXIT (fire-safe quick-release) — with a single constraint: a homeowner with a standard drill must be able to install correctly in one afternoon. Every model ships with that promise tested across multiple window types, framing materials, and climate conditions.
Marcus has personally inspected over 2,400 properties for break-in vulnerability and field-tested SWB prototypes on 47 windows across 11 homes before product launch — including a 1920s Chicago bungalow with non-standard openings that nothing else on the market would fit. His written work focuses on translating technical specifications (gauge, anchor pattern, IBC code references) into language homeowners can act on without a security background.
